Hello, is it possible to get a re-entry permit on the Covid extension in Bangkok? Current extension is valid until 21 July, a US passport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of obtaining a re-entry permit while on a Covid extension of stay in Thailand. It is noted that the Covid Visa implies the holder is unable to travel due to Covid-19, and thus requesting a re-entry permit may contradict the reason for the visa. Additionally, commenters explain that a re-entry permit costs 1,000 THB for a single entry, but upon re-entry, one could receive a 45-day stamp free of charge. Therefore, acquiring a re-entry permit may be unnecessary and could result in additional costs for only a limited extension.
I'm going to close comments. IF the OP wants to message a moderate explaining why they want a re-entry permit on a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, we'll reopen comments. Thank you
The purpose of the Covid Visa is "unable to travel due to Covid" so by you asking for a re-entry permit for it, you're saying that your reason for the visa is no longer valid.
I decided to let this post on to explain how visa exempts, extension of stays, and re-entry permits work.
A visa exempt is a 45 day stamp that people from certain countries receive when they enter Thailand without a visa. A person can get unlimited visa exempt stamps BY AIR, and I have seen no rejections since they reopened up the airports.
The 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 is an extension because a person is unable to travel back to their home country because of COVID-19.
A re-entry permit keeps your current "extension of stay" alive when you leave the country. A single entry reentry permit is 1K THB.

Assuming they would even sell you the re-entry permit, why would you want that? At most, you'd get another 27 days, at the cost of 1,000, OR you can get 45 days and pay NOTHING.
