I just got a COVID extension on my tourist visa until July 20. Is it possible to get reentry permit on this? My visa agent said it isn’t possible.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The general consensus in the discussion is that it is not possible to obtain a re-entry permit while under a COVID extension of a tourist visa in Thailand. Participants explain that the nature of this extension indicates that the holder is unable to travel, thus re-entry permits are typically not granted. Various opinions suggest that leaving the country would necessitate obtaining a new visa, as the COVID extension specifically prevents travel.

Covid extension means you are not able to leave Thailand so how can you get a re-entry permit? If you can leave Thailand it means you don't need covid extension.
Where is the logic on getting a re-entry permit on a maximum 60 day extension, when if you leave the country, you re-enter on a 30-day visa exempt which can be extended a further 30 days? I can't see the logic

Why wouldn’t you just re-enter on a new visa (or possibly visa waiver)?

How do you think you could get a re-entry permit on a unable to travel extension
So what you will ask immigration is:- Hey I need to travel out of the country and travel back in, can I have an "unable to travel" reentry permit? Something not quite right about this 😆😆😆

No, the whole point of a covid extension is that you cannot travel...
