Good evening All,

I would like to know if anyone's got any experience with leaving Thailand on a Re- Entry permit whilst your 1 year Non O visa extension is still in the "Under Consideration" period? I'm only popping out for a week and I'll be back within the original visa expiry date and before i need to head back to the Immigration Dept. to get the visa extension stamped into my passport.

So in a nutshell are you allowed to leave Thailand whilst waiting for the extension to be approved?

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on whether it's permissible to leave Thailand while a Non-O visa extension is still under consideration. Users provide insights indicating that while it's possible to leave with a re-entry permit, it is safer to wait until the extension is approved to avoid potential issues, especially if immigration needs to verify something upon your return.

If you are under consideration and need to leave you can.

Reentry permit of course, just be back by the date stamped for return to collect the extension.

HOWEVER if for some reason *and it's rare * they need to see you, confirm or fix something, home Inspection whatever you'll be out of luck.

Best advice wait and get stamped then travel.

thanks mate, that's exactly what my thinking has been. I was also worried that me leaving might be flagged up in the system and then it's all been for nothing. But also reading other posts it seems like ultimately it might be up to the officers discretion on the process. Best thing will be to contact the immigration and confirm my options. Thanks mate.

I'm on a multi-entry extension, but it appears this ceases when you apply for the next yearly extension (not the original date), as each year after submitting the paperwork i have to get an additional single re-entry stamp to cover the under consideration period just in case i have to make a trip. (Company pays, so not my money being wasted).

thanks Tony, I can see the reasoning behind this too. Ultimately I'm going to have to go in there and find out from my immigration office what the best option will be. Thanks for your input mate.

You should have told Immigration that you intended to leave and got a re-entry permit when you applied for your extension.

Graham Seal thanks for the reply. I've got a re-entry permit. This trip to leave Thailand has come up unexpectedly and would like to know if I have to cancel/ abandon the whole Visa Extension or is it ok as I'm leaving and coming back in on the Re Entry Permit before I would have to report back to the Immigration to get the extension stamped in it. I will definitely pop into the immigration office to make 100 percent sure if it can or cant be done. Would like to see if anyone's been or had a similar situation as I'll only be able to pop into the immigration office next week Wednesday to ask. Cheers mate.
