Thank you for posting this. I have the exact same situation as you - ED extension plus re-entry permit. I've got my appointment at the Vientiane embassy tomorrow and I've been worried that this might cause issues, but it sounds like it shouldn't be a problem. Will report in when I know the outcome of my application to confirm.

Note that I have a single entry ED visa(used) and my extension was ED plus 1 year with multiple re-entry permit. I mean Idk about people with multiple entry visa stamp but for those who's with extension of stay with re-entry permit gets approved.

I would wager you didn't have a valid VISA at all 😮

In fact I would bet dollars to durian you actually have a stamp that says "extension of stay permitted until" in your passport which is based on education and then have another stamp that is the re-entry permit. 🙂 But correct me if I'm wrong

It's NOT people on extensions who have any issue getting DTV's from consulates people

It's people on valid multi-entry VISAS that you get from a thai consulate in another country and which haven't run out before you apply for the DTV

, I'm saying once you're on a stamp that says "extension of stay permitted until" (which is NOT a visa at all but an extension) then you're okay to get the DTV.

I second this. When I applied for the DTV I had an "active" (it was displayed with this wording on the e-visa website) single entry tourist visa (not visa on arrival, not visa waiver). The original visa said it was "valid" until October 28th or so (I applied for the DTV at the end of August), but of course that visa was technically already "dead", as it was not a multi entry one and I had already entered and exited Thailand once using it, prior to applying for the DTV.

yep, once you enter the country on a single entry visa (no matter what the valid until date was) that visa was USED

It's only those 6 month METV's or a year long multi-entry Non-Imm visa (where you bounce out/back every 90 days) that can mess you up if they're still valid when you apply for DTV

Cambodia is a county that don’t concern applicant’s information too much. So, You can get it.

But if you will entrance to Thailand , don’t show DTV first. You should entrance with ED re-entry. If they suspect you hold two visa. They can reject visa.

I think you have your wires crossed,

They applied for the DTV at the Thai consulate in Phnom Penh Cambodia while they were IN cambodia (as you have to be in the country you're applying at) thru the online eVisa system.

They uploaded their documents, paid the 400USD visa fee and waited to get the approval email with the PDF file that is the visa.
