Has anyone successfully applied for DTV through HCM? In the case I'm unemployed, is it sufficient to just have a letter explaining how I will be able to sustain my life in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses applying for a DTV visa at the Thai Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, particularly addressing concerns about being unemployed. Responses suggest that while it is possible to apply, candidates should provide detailed explanations of their financial sustainability in Thailand, ideally with a supporting letter. Having a sponsor with a stable financial situation is emphasized, and it is noted that significant deposits in bank accounts could raise concerns about funding sources. The choice of consulate and proper documentation are also mentioned as crucial factors in the application process.
You have not π« said much about you and the purpose for which you will be applying for the DTV visa with the Ho Chi Minh City Thai Consulate...
What is your passport nation?
What are you applying for with the DTV visa?
I doubt that it's for Workcation... based on your post.
If for Soft Power activity...
Which one?
And who will be ok providing the important documents supporting your DTV application?

Try soft power and get an sponsor that has seasonal money in their accounts for 6 months. Try not to have BIG DEPOSITS or they will ask you why is that deposit there and look for justification as they will suspect you borrow this money for the visa. All they care is that your sponsor can support yourself and that money for this will come from outside Thailand. The embassy that you apply to also plays a significant factor in the amount of paperwork they will be requesting . If you are in thailand go to vietnam and choose hanoi. Tickets are cheap and also housing is affordable. Check for an school that is registered with the goverment and before you apply go to the embassy to verify if the school shows in their records . Good luck π
