Can I apply for a DTV visa from Vietnam with funds in an investment portfolio?

Hi all! I'm looking to apply for my DTV visa from Vietnam. I have a couple of questions about the process, given personal circumstances:

1. I have the 500,000 baht in an investment portfolio under my name that can be withdrawn into my personal account at anytime (I have documents proving this). Is this still applicable if I use this given that it's not a personal bank account?

2. Is it easier to apply from the UK or Vietnam?

3. I have been living in Thailand for the previous 6 months and overstayed before extending one time. I paid the fine and had no more issues; however, i've heard it may present some issues.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering applying for a DTV visa from Vietnam and has questions regarding the necessary financial requirements, the ease of application from different locations, and potential concerns due to previous overstays. The consensus in the comments suggests that funds need to be from a personal bank account rather than an investment portfolio, and while there may be concerns about an overstay, applicants can still be approved from both Vietnam and the UK.

You can't use an investment portfolio, even cash inside an investment account is no good. You need to withdraw it and put in a personal standard bank account

1) Generally not accepted, BUT it always comes down to the specific embassy.

Overstayers have been approved for the DTV. 500k should be in a personal bank account. Vietnam is among the top embassies to apply from which speaks to the ease of its' application process. London is also very "friendly" with its' application process.

Generally they will only accept funds in a conventional chequing/savings account.

When the visa first came out there were reports of people using their investment accounts as proof of funds but they seem to have brought that back in line since then.

Investment portfolio will not work for the 500K requirement.
