TLDR : Answer Summary
The Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand does not strictly require you to have an active income. However, immigration officers may want to confirm that you have sufficient funds and will not engage in illegal work while in the country. Some might suggest having a regular income could strengthen your application, but having substantial personal savings for the duration of the visa is also considered acceptable.
I believe you need employment to qualify for the workation track

It's not required but obviously the officers need to make sure you won't work illegally in the country. It's the same everywhere in the world, not just Thailand
