TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) is not strictly available to retirees; applicants must meet requirements related to remote work or participating in soft power activities like cultural courses, medical treatments, or martial arts. Since you have the necessary income and savings, consider the 'Medical Soft Power' route, which involves setting up a treatment plan with a healthcare provider in Thailand. It's advised to research the embassy's specific requirements, as some may end up with a METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) instead.
You have to be remote working for self or others and or take soft power education courses like culture language or cooking ... martial arts or medical treatments.
DTV is just simply a glorified educational visa that last 5 years unlimited entry 180 days stay

So you are looking at applying for the DTV going the "Medical Soft Power" route? There are a few that have qualified using "Dental", Ongoing conditions such as arthritis, diabetes etc. Need to find a Dr, Hospital/Clinic to make appointments with, get a treatment plan and apply. Some who applied this way were given a METV instead so research the embassy where you will be applying to and what their requirements are.

You can apply for the DTV using soft power.

Being retired is not a qualification for DTV. You either need to be a remote worker or you need to be doing a soft power activity (Muay Thai, Thai cooking school, medical treatments)
