I know that the Sydney, Australia Consulate recognises Thai language courses under the soft power category, but am not aware of other embassies that do.

Yes - for DTV. This is the Sydney Australia Consulate. They confirmed in an email to me last week. But I know that there are other embassies that don't accept Thai language courses to support DTVs. There may be others besides Sydney who do, it's worth reaching out to check with your local embassy.

based on current experience of many people who want to stay in Thailand long-term and ever had ED Visa is that long term Visa's use to be rejected because of previously used ED Visa. So, people who are trying to apply even for one of the most expensive option like Elite visa getting it rejected and are stuck in the never ending circle of every year renewing ED visa.

That’s fantastic information. You helped me dodge a bullet. So for people who apply for DTV Visa, how would they be able to stay longer than the 5 years? Do you keep reapplying for the DTV Visa? Or would you not be able to convert to a retirement or elite Visa later?

that is unknown for now, as DTV visa option is available in just a little over 6 months and with Thailand visas rules and options which are changing so often, it's impossible to tell for sure.

The embassy gives you the list of requirements

But each embassy can be slightly different on amount of information like 6 months bank statements vs 1. Start with which embassy you apply and get there requirements and then ask questions

You need to check the specific list on the website of the specific embassy you'll be applying for. The basic is to have at least 500K (or it's equivalent in any currency) in a bank account in your name and to have documents to prove you're either a remote worker or that you're enrolled on a soft power course (if you're going that route).

basically muay thai and Thai cuisine curses, although the exact scope of what's allowed varies wildly at each embassy. There's also the option to get it trhu medical treatment.
