I'm italian, my partner is american and he has a retirement visa. We're planning to marry here in thailand.

Is it possible to do a dependent visa for me as a spouse? Which type of visa it would be? Any agency that can help troughout the process?

(. I cannot do retirement cause of age)
Summary so far
The possibility of obtaining a dependent visa in Thailand as a spouse of a retirement visa holder is complex. Most comments indicate that individuals under 50 cannot apply for a retirement visa and that dependent visas for retirement are currently not being issued. If the primary visa holder has an OA visa, there may be a pathway to apply for a dependent visa. However, this process cannot be completed in Thailand, and alternatives such as the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) or other suitable visas should be considered. It is recommended to seek guidance from an immigration agency for assistance.

I think it would be possible if you got an OA and bring you on as a dependent

I heard they are rolling out a new visa in Phuket that allows long stay if you buy a place or are renting a place for 85,000 thb per month or more. In case that would be relevant. Otherwise maybe look into the DTV

Juniper Page-Rose There's no new visas, you might be referring to the LTR visa

But yes might not be a new visa and instead just a new criteria for extending - not sure - anyway just thought I'd mention it in case they are in Phuket and want to look into it but probably DTV soft power would be her best long term option until retirement can be done.

What sort of retirement visa does your boyfriend currently have, the answer will differ depending on that? The most common would be the Non-O visa based on being over 50 or an extension of stay based on retirement from that, if that's the case you're not going to get a dependant visa based on that.

TurquoiseCapybara6743 probably best to think of another visa that you are entitled to apply for in that case

If you are under 50 you can't have a retirement visa

You cannot get a non-o "retirement" dependant in country and most?( if not all embassies ) have stopped issuing them.

Some embassies will do a dependant visa IF the primary obtains an OA visa.

Neither can be done in Thailand.

The dependant visa for "retirement " is fundamentally dead.

IF you are able to have another visa and extension, then the second year you may be able to "change the reason for extension" to dependant but not all offices will allow it and in the time it would take to get to that point it may not be available at all.
