What’s the advantages or disadvantages of getting a 60 day tr or a non o visa if they can both be extended to 90 days ? I am going to be retiring in Thailand but won’t have enough money in bank until I get to Thailand so which one would be best ? Tia

*** you have misunderstood my post or I have written it wrong.

I meant if you get one or the other after 60 days you then apply for 30 day extension , is this correct or not . I am from uk and thought they are giving out 90 day non o visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion examines the advantages and disadvantages of obtaining a 60-day tourist visa compared to a Non-O visa for retirement in Thailand, highlighting that the Non-O visa offers the potential for a one-year extension, while the tourist visa can be extended only for an additional 30 days. The conversation clarifies that both visas have different eligibility requirements and extension options, suggesting that the best choice depends on individual circumstances, including financial readiness upon arrival in Thailand.

That is correct. All extension of stays are 1,900 THB, and entering on a 60 day tourist visa allows a person to extend this visa, ONCE, for another 30 days for 1,900 THB.

I *BELIEVE* they are *NOT* issuing the 90 day single entry Non-O visa based on retirement. Only the one year Non-OA visa based on retirement is being issued. Refer to the Facebook group that James Miller referenced above; they would know for sure.

The requirements to enter Thailand are country specific these days, sadly :(

Both can *NOT* be extended by 90 days in Thailand. For the Non-O visa based on retirement, it can *ONLY* be extended by one year. A 60 day tourist visa can be extended by another 30 days based on being a tourist, OR (if they are still selling it), by 60 days for the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

You didn't state your nationality, however I believe the best visa is the one that fits your needs. From your profile, you are from the UK. The UK does *NOT* issue single entry Non-O visas based on retirement to my knowledge, but does issue the multiple entry Non-OA visa. This one-year visa is a multiple entry visa, and on each entry you are allowed to stay for one year (with 90 day reports required). Because of COVID-19 and the complexity of getting a tourist visa, the steps to get a visa is outside the scope of this group right now. Contact your local Thai embassy for more information, OR ask on one of the many "Farangs Stranded Aboard" groups.
