Can I apply for a COVID extension and then switch to a Non-O visa while my husband is on a Non-B visa in Thailand?

My husband has gotten everything thing worked out for him to start work.

But we are still trying to figure out me and the kids dependent visa. We are going today to apply for our last TR 30days. But that will not get us to the 45 days of my husbands 90 days non b visa where immigration says he can apply for 1 year at that time.

We will be a few days shy of meeting the 15 days left to apply. Once we do this

Can we apply for a COVID extension and then switch to a non o visa?

We want to trail on to his visa. Would this be an extension of stay or a new visa?

Where at the immigration in northern Bangkok do we go for this information or advice?

Currently on a TR visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on obtaining dependent visas for themselves and their kids while their husband starts work in Thailand on a Non-B visa. They are concerned about their current TR visa expiring before they can apply for a Non-O visa based on their husband's work status. The questions include whether they can apply for a COVID extension to buy time, the nature of the visa application, and specific immigration office locations in northern Bangkok for assistance.

sorry on that note we're done. While I have no problem answering questions what I am not is going to spoon feed you answers. You want a covid extension read that post you were linked to and then slog on out to your immigration office and apply for one. You know where to go, you know what section to go to, and now it's on you to pull it off.

Again, no disrespect intended or implied,

BUT

you're a grown up who managed to get all the way across the world on your own without someone holding your hand, I know you can pull off getting a covid extension

AND

while you're there asking at counter C-1 for the hand out for trailing spouse Non-O too

Good luck, take care (y)

to buy you the time to get the required days on your stamp to apply for in country Non-O visas you COULD get a covid extension.

To get any extension from a TR60 tourist visa in Bangkok you go to the main immigration office at Chaengwattana Road Building B Section J does the tourist extensions.

When you go to apply for the in country conversion to a 90 day Non-O visa you will go to C/W again but use section C-1.

You will be applying for a completely NEW 90 day Non-O visa based on being married to a foreigner who legally works here. Then after that's issued and you wait until you have 30 days left on the 90 day stamp you go and apply for a year extension that matches your husbands work extension

You get the covid extension at the main immigration office at Chaengwattana Government complex just like I said

It's here

if I get a COVID extension then would that change my visa type? Don't you have to be on your original visa type to change over visas? Also is that building the one that the normal TR is processed, the one that is near the soccer stadium?

@Donna *********
nope the covid extension doesn't change the type of entry you came in on

where do I get information to be able to apply. Also where do I get information to be able to get a non o to follow on to my husbands non b visa? The school has not done foreign teachers with families before and are helping but are little help.

You and someone from your school slog on out to Chaengwattana and talk to the people in Section C-1 <- the section that issues Non-Immigrant type visas in Bangkok. They will give you a hand out listing the requirements so you can apply for a "trailing spouse" Non-O visa based on being married to a foreigner legally working here.

and just to clarify. I can NOT get that until my husband gets his 1 year extension, correct? And I can get a COVID extension and apply for a non o later, correct?

@Donna *********
, Correct, your husband has to be on 1-year permit for you to be able to apply for accompanying Non-O.

Here is a requirement sample. you need to get the newest at CW because this cannot be guaranteed as the current one..

what do I need for a COVID extension?
Ellie *******
@Do***
, Check this post. But be ready in case you may (or may not) be asked for additional documents such as embassy letter or flight ticket out. Go to CW a few (working) days in advance to see what they say.

I did. I could not find the actual requirements just people with different circumstances asking questions. I always use search 1st.
