Hello all.

Can you point me in the right direction please?

I am changing from a 60 day extension visa (cannot leave due to covid) to a non immigration B visa.

My son is changing to an education visa.

My husband will change to a guardian visa.

Can the 60 day covid extension visa be changed to another type while in/ without leaving the country?

Thanks.

Rachel.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Rachel is considering changing her 60-day COVID extension visa to a Non-Immigration B visa while remaining in Thailand. She also mentions her son transitioning to an education visa and her husband changing to a guardian visa. The responses suggest that changes may depend on the original visa stamp and the remaining days on it, highlighting that some immigration offices require a minimum duration remaining for conversion.

It really comes down to the original stamp you were on BEFORE you went on covid extensions AND that you have enough days left on your current stamp to do the in country conversion (Chiang Mai requires a minimum of 21 days left on your current stamp to do it).

In theory, it may be possible, but it'll be between you, the employer and school, and the immigration office

when I applied for it I am sure it didnt say 'cannot be changed to another visa type' but that is the vibe I am getting now. still cant see it in writing anywhere.

Which immigration office are you using if you don't mind me asking?

It seems my visa change and my son is ok. But not my husband?

What's a "guardian visa"? I'm guessing this is a one year extension of stay based on being a trailing spouse, correct? There should be no problems with him getting a one year extension of stay based on being a trailing spouse on your one year extension of stay based on employment.

What is the reason you think your husband would be denied?

my husband was going to get a visa as the parent. ( son education visa) But he could apply for a visa as my husband instead. ( me non B visa)
