Hi,

My soon-to-be husband (on May 31st) is working here with a proper visa extension and work permit. I'm currently on the COVID extension.

I saw yesterday that it's completely possible to change from the covid extension to the NON-O Dependent Spouse visa.

What are the typical requirements for this? (At Chaengwattana)

From what I understand, you first receive a 2-week under-consideration stamp, then the 90-day visa, then can apply for the year extension. Is this correct? And are there any additional requirements for getting the year extension?

Thank you!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is asking about the process of converting from a COVID extension to a NON-O Dependent Spouse visa in Thailand. They are planning to marry and are currently on a temporary extension. The common process involves receiving documentation from the spouse's employer, submitting various documents including a marriage certificate, and applying for the NON-O visa after a minimum of 15 days on the current extension. This entails receiving a 14-day under-consideration stamp before finally obtaining a 90-day visa. After that, they can apply for a yearly extension, with a recommendation to consult specific forms and requirements at the immigration office.

you get documentation from the employer (a letter stating they know you're going to 'piggy back' on their employees visa/extension) his contract, work permit, documents from the company, marriage certificate (possibly certified). You need a minimum of 15 days on your current stamp to apply in section C-1 for the 90 day Non-O visa based on being married to someone on a long term extension who legally works here, you pay the 2000baht, get a 14 day under consideration stamp, go back on that date, get a Non-O visa and a new 90 day stamp inked in. THEN you wait until you have 45 days or less left on the stamp go back to the immigration office with new documentation and apply for a year extension for the same reason (married to a foreigner who legally works here).

Either you or your husbands HR dept should go to immigrations get the hand out from section C-1 that lists what documents you need to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa AND get the hand out that you need to apply for the year extension AFTER you get that visa issued too, so you know what you're doing.

totally can be done, BUT keep in mind on that visa/extension (really called "trailing spouse" but colloquially called "piggy-backing" :O) you cannot work. It's one of the few visa/extension types that have employment prohibited as a rule to get it.
