Hi all new here so sorry if this has been asked before. I'm about to leave the US and head back to my wife. I was told I can do visa exempt and then get a non o for marriage when I get there. Is that 100% correct or do I need to have a visa prior to coming into Thailand? I'd hate to get there and be denied a marriage visa and have to do this all again. Any help is welcome and thank you ahead of time!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can enter Thailand on a 45-day visa exempt entry and then apply for a 90-day Non-O visa based on marriage. To get the Non-O visa, you will need to meet certain requirements, including having 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account in your name for at least 2 months before applying for a one-year extension based on marriage.

you got kinda correct info :)

You can indeed enter on a 45 day visa exempt entry and then apply first for a 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage and then after that a year extension also based on marriage.

You'll have to meet the proof of funds by having 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only to apply for the in country 90 day Non-O visa and then that money will need to be in the account for 2 months before you apply for the year extension (after your 90 days runs down)

awesome. I took care of the money side already and it will be 2 months plus we'll before I get back to buriram. That's great news as that is so much easier than getting all the paperwork here done. Thank you so much!
