Can DTV holders still enter Thailand via land border crossings?

I just did my 2nd 180 day extension on my DTV, via land crossing in Chiang Rai. Both my wife and I were told (by 2 different officers) that DTV holders can't cross via land anymore, need to fly and stay outside overnight. But he still let us in with a 6 month stamp.

Has anyone else had similar or different discussions about this?
Answer summary
The post discusses the recent experience of a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) holder who obtained a second 180-day entry stamp through a land crossing in Chiang Rai, despite being informed by immigration officers that DTV holders should fly and stay outside Thailand overnight. Comments from other users clarify the nature of extension versus new entry stamps, the general limitations on land borders, and the challenges associated with obtaining a Thai bank account on a DTV.

There are very few land borders open

You can go From Ranong > Kawthoung ( Myanmar) and back in less than an hour with new stamps

Price is negotiable but you can’t get the boat over alone or unorganised

It wasn't an extension. In-country extensions do exist, but only one is allowed (so a second extension wouldn't be possible, anyway)

You didn't get an extension, you got a new entry stamp.

Immigration officers can say anything they want, they probably weren't happy with a quick turnaround as the DTV isn't really designed to allow you to live full time in Thailand, but they let you in which suggests the rule they quoted doesn't exist or surely they would have applied it.

Robert Perrett I do my crossings at Nong khai, no issues at all, go to Loas border complex for lunch and duty free, and come straight back 😉 😀

PS: I also got a bank account with my DTV but Facebook opinion says you can't do that anymore??
