Hi,

I was in December for the first time in Thailand.

And this year I want to go back but have some questions about the visa.

My plan is to go to Thailand for a month or so.

Then go to Laos and Cambodja for 1,5 month.

And return to Thailand for 2,5-3 months.

So a total of 5 months.

Witch visa I need for this ?

Do I need a multiple entry visa or are there other ( cheaper) ways ?

I’m new to all these visa things so 🙃

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on the appropriate visa for a 5-month stay in Thailand, involving a month in other Southeast Asian countries. Suggestions from the community include obtaining a 60-day tourist visa (TR 60) either through visa exemption or an e-visa, which can be extended by 30 days. A multiple entry visa is also recommended for ease, allowing each entry to be valid for 60 days, facilitating travel plans without needing to frequently obtain new visas.

Easiest thing is to get a multiple entry visa in your home country, each entry good for 60 days. Don't have to spend time during your vacation getting visas.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.

It is cheaper than visaexcempt + 30 days extension.

No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.

It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

thaievisa.go.th

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).

No need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

Agreeing with Tom. Visa exemption (make sure the month you intend doesn't exceed 30 days, otherwise coming with a visa is better), then go to the other countries, then get a 60 day tourist visa there for your return. Without it you need at least one border run. You can extend the visa (or exemption) by 30 days in country, so you'd have 90 with the 60 day visa, or 60 with exemption. You could even do two runs if you prefer.

I've used the TR60 multiple entry visa since 2018. Never any issues. I stayed 10 months COVID exempt during the Emergency Decree. Those were interesting days. Tourist Bangkok was a ghost town. I left for the village where I sit today.

ok thx 🙂

Update: It's a TR 60 visa. Come in visa exempt, or on an evisa. Do your S.E.A. tour then when in the country before you return to Thailand go to the Thai embassy in that country and get a TM60. After 60 days do a 30 day extension, or a border run. You're allowed 2 land border entries per calendar year. Apparently airport arrivals are less restrictive as to number of entries.

Good plan. Get your TR60 Single entry or multi entry visa, in Phnom Penh at the Thai embassy. After 60 days extend for 30 days for ฿1900 - or with the multiple entry visa exit the country and return.

don’t shoot me …but what’s a S.E.A. Tour ?

If I’m correct just come in with visa exempt.

And then get a a 60 days visa in example the Thai embassy in Cambodja ?

(I can’t get this 60 days visa not in advance ?)

not sure on your country requirements. Suggest looking on thai embassy website and view visa availability. Definitely multi entry would be good if available. As you get 60 days plus extension every time you enter within the 6 months the visa is good for. Enter a week before it expires you get the 60 plus 30

he doesn't need the multi entry visa with his plans. He qualifies for visa exemption, as all western countries do.
