TLDR : Answer Summary
There is uncertainty regarding whether a Visa on Arrival can be converted to a Covid extension in Thailand. Some reports suggest that it may depend on the immigration office, as conflicting information has been received from different sources. A common outcome of an application attempt is receiving a non-approval stamp with a 7-day notice to leave the country. It is recommended to check directly with the local immigration office for the most accurate guidance.

Are you on visa on arrival or visa exempt (30 day stamp on entry)?

they show they're from India so they would either have entered on a real tourist visa they bought before they came here from the thai consulate or they entered on a 15 day visa on arrival that they bought when they stamped in for 2000baht.

We are gettiug conflicting reports that some offices will allow it and some offices will not allow covid extensions for the 18 countries whose people BUY a 15 day visa on arrival when they land here for 2000baht.

All you can do is check with your immigration office and see what they say ๐Ÿ˜•
