Hello Everyone,

Allow me to apologize if this question was previously addressed (I could not find it). Basically, with a DTV, is it possible to open a bank account?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Opening a bank account in Thailand with a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) can be challenging. While there are anecdotal reports of individuals successfully opening accounts, many others face difficulties or outright rejections. Some expats have managed to open accounts by using agents, although this often requires enrolling in a visa package. Overall, the success rate appears to be inconsistent, and prospective applicants are advised to thoroughly research and potentially seek assistance from local banking agents.

In theory yes but people struggle to do so

Technically I don't think you're allowed to, but some people have been lucky. I was actually in a Bangkok Bank branch when a guy came in and the bank manager told him that they don't open accounts for tourist visas.

Yes but it’s luck. Most people seem to be rejected but then some are successful

There lots of posts about this so try another search

FYI, banks will never open any account for you. On the other hand agents could arrange it but you have to enroll in any of their yearly visa package starting from

THB. Agents will not help you with opening bank account alone.

Yes via an agent or doing the walk around until a bank says yes.
