Looking to come to Thailand for one year. Is there any advise you could give me on the type of visas I need to apply for us both.

Thanks in advance for any support.

TLDR : Answer Summary
For staying in Thailand for one year, there are several visa options depending on your age and circumstances. If you are over 50 years old, you can apply for a Non O-A visa, which requires proof of income or funds. Alternatively, you can opt for a 90-day Non O visa with the possibility of extending your stay. A METV allows for up to nine months, and an LTR visa is noted as one of the best for long-term stays. If you are under 50, your options are more limited, but an educational visa is also a possibility. Finally, it is important to be cautious regarding working remotely in Thailand, as it is a grey area legally.

You may want to research the recent tax law changes that have not yet been implemented, as this is causing great concern for many expert or future people, considering retiring in Thailand.

It all depends: if over 50 years old - easy. If younger than 50 - not so easy but possible yet elite visa certainly an overkill.

depends on your age. Over 50-ties can easily apply for the 90-days Non-Imm-O "over 50" retirement visa, put 800,000.- THB into a Thai bank account and receive a one-year extended stay permit. Under 50-years old don't have these easy option

By far the best visa in Thailand is LTR. And second place isn't close.

Start slowly and lower your expectations.

Start out with 60 days touristvisa, plus 30 days extension, and after that do a evaluation, if it still is your plan to stay longer.

Holiday life is not the same as everyday life, so proceeed slowly.

Dont mention working remotely again maybe even edit your post. Its a grey area never mention it to officials

If you’re passed 50 years and have a monthly income equal to 65K thb a month or funds equal to 800K in you bank you can apply for a one year Non O-A visa. (Needs health insurance, health certificate and criminal record from police too.)

You can also apply for a 90 days Non O and a year extension of stay in Thailand . The requirements are the same (minus the extra requirement). You can use your income and funds home for applying, but you’ll need to put 800K thb in a thai bank for you extension. (Unless your embassy provides a affidavit letter to verify your income)

A six months METV (multiple entries tourist visa) gives you up to nine months in Thailand. No specific requirements, but you need to show proof of 200K thb for your stay.

Starts at 900K for five years, not a particular good deal if you just want to stay for a year.
