Can I get a dependent visa for my wife while applying for a retirement visa in Thailand?

I was told by a Visa agent today in Phuket that they could get me into a retirement visa (from a tourist) but they couldn't get my younger wife (44) a dependent visa. New rules, etc.

A month ago, a different Visa agent via email said no problem to getting a dependent visa.

Has anyone heard of this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the conflicting information received from different visa agents in Phuket regarding the ability to secure a dependent visa for the author's wife when transitioning from a tourist visa to a retirement visa. One agent claims it's currently not possible to obtain a dependent visa inside Thailand, while another had suggested it could be done previously. Community members share their experiences with different visa processes, including traveling to other countries for visa applications and the importance of obtaining accurate information from immigration offices.

So you have different agents telling you different things. Did you ever think to go to your immigration office and get the full facts FREE OF CHARGE?

We traveled to Penang for my wifeโ€™s Non O. Then added her to my retirement extension as a dependent.

Have you confirmed with the original visa agent if it's now the case that they don't do it anymore ?

I did ask them again and they said to open a bank account for her and they could do it. So we might have to travel to BKK but before I do I wanted to ask everyone so it's not a wasted trip.

they never have done. Once the husband is on an annual extension the wife has to travel outside of Thailand to get the appropriate Non-O for a trailing spouse

Normally it's not possible to do the dependant visa inside Thailand. A few months ago Phuket issued a document that said they would start allowing it but then it just never happened and no one has been able to do it. This might be what the first agent was referencing but then the reality is what the second agent told you.
