TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) for Thailand, German passport holders must typically apply in person at a Thai embassy or consulate. It's suggested to obtain the visa from Germany, particularly from the Thai Embassy in Berlin, which is noted for its organized processing. Alternatively, applying at the Thai consulate in Perth, Australia is also possible. The METV usually allows for a six-month validity period, but travelers might be able to extend their stay up to eight months through careful planning. The cost for a one-year multiple entry visa is around €175. For detailed requirements and procedures, consulting the official Thai embassy websites is recommended.

For the METV you might be able to get it in Perth, check what is needed, if not your home country.

it says: "1) For retirees aged 55 and over must submit the following documents:" . . . . maybe Austrians have to be older than retirees from the rest of the world 😅😅😅. . . .strangely, the same mistake appears in the german translation: "1) Pensionisten, welche über 55 Jahre alt sind, müssen die folgenden Dokumente vorlegen:" . . . in all other countries, for Non-Imm-O based on retirement the age limit is 50

@Gre***
that is the official website of the Thai Embassy in Vienna. Unfortunately they can be as wrong as other sources.

Khun Kurt there is a mistake in the first photo (Visa Type O) in the text. They speak about a Non-Imm-O for retirees and it says that they have to be 55 years old. This is wrong. The age limit is 50. I would be VERY careful in trusting these texts. I always stick to the offical website of the consulate or the embassy

a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa Type O? Mixing up two different visa's, it is OR a Tourist Visa OR a Non Immigrant O visa.

Maria Fredriksson I'm Austrian, I get from Embassy METV Typ O, every year, travelling also to neighbouring countries. Never have a problem after entry again in Thailand by land or air. No money controlling, no accommodation check, no air Ticket check. BUT the last about 150 trips to Thailand, I NEVER made a Overstay, not only 1 day !!!!

1 Jahr Multiple Visa kostet € 175.00, warum 9 Monat, Visa erteilen Thai Botschaften Konsulat in Deutschland

Khun Kurt the Non-O-M or the Non-O/A Longstay also cost 175 Euro fee. There is no difference to the fee payable for a Multi Entry Tourist Visa. With all three visa, he can get close to 9 months of stay in Thailand. However the requirements for the Non-Imm- O and -O/A are much higher and one has to be 50 years old. For the Multi Entry Tourist Visa, the age is not relevant

that sounds like its the O-A non immigrant multiple entry visa for those age 50+ for retirement. Valid for one year and can get second year by depart and reenter Thailand before end of first year.

Get one from Germany or head over to the consulate in Perth Australia.

You need to go back to Germany to get one. Also they’re for 6 months but you can squeeze 8 out of it.
