Are there alternatives to obtaining a one-year Non-B visa in Penang, especially now that new rules require being a shareholder or director?

TLDR : Answer Summary
New regulations in Penang have changed the requirements for obtaining a one-year Non-B visa, now necessitating that applicants be shareholders or directors. Given this development, users are seeking alternative locations for visa applications, inquiring about options in Kuala Lumpur, Laos, Cambodia, and elsewhere. Comments indicate that currently, most nearby consulates only offer a 3-month Single Entry Non-B visa and that previous options like Katu Baru have also aligned with the new rules. The primary alternative discussed is applying for a one-year Extension of Stay if the employer meets specific criteria.

In Penang now i can ask to the agency when I will go collect my passport , I am a shareholder tough . You should remind me on Thursday can write me in private.

Nowhere now. I think you have to be at least a 25% shareholder too, correct me if I'm wrong.

One of the reasons for the change was the large amount of under paid diving instructors and other trades. Either your employer pays you the minimum wage or they find a new Thai employee.

No other place, other than Penang ever issued one as far as I know.

Your only option is as Robert suggests.

Katu Baru (spelling) used to, but same as Penang now.

It is no rumoer, it is true. All close by consulates/embassies only provide the 3 month Single Entry Non B visa. Alternative is apply for 1 year Extension of Stay if your employer can meet the requirements.
