TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirements for obtaining a Non-Immigrant Visa B may differ between Penang and Kota Bharu. Penang reportedly requires that your work permit states you are a Managing Director, while Kota Bharu only needs you to be listed as a Director. Additionally, documentation requirements for visa extensions are extensive and involve company and employee records. Therefore, for someone not holding a director position, it may be advisable to explore the specific criteria at each consulate before applying.
An Extension of Stay of a 90 day B Visa (done at Thai Immigration) requires extensive documentation about the Employee and about the Employer. For a Foreign Employee - the Employer submits company Certification, Tax and Share Documents, Employee Social Fund Payment Receipts (up to the last 3 months, Income Tax payments done for the Foreign Employee for prior months / year, Revenue Dept. Tax Id obtained for the Foreign Employee, plus misc. Docs
Extensions based on employment are issued for a year at a time. Sometimes the first application will go under consideration for 30 days and then you go back to get the rest of the year extension inked into your passport.
Could please tell me what the fees are for the extension of stay (assuming my boss have all the paperwork) and how long that extension would be ? thank you so much for helping me see a bit clearly here
Yep, you work by the book or travel every 3 months, I do not hope the MFA is closing down this loophole even further by stopping to issue mutliple visa's back to back as we see now with the Tourist visa.
My point is - the Elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about - is that some of these companies can't or won't provide these documents. Thus if the employee wants to work for that company - the employee will have to get a new non Imm B 90 day Visa - every 3 months
Penang and Kota Bharu seems to be the only two Thai Consulates that still SELL the 1 year Non Immigrant Visa. All the others only sell the Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa. Other option is to apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay and a multiple re-entry permit at your local Immigration Office.
When you enter Thailand you get an Admitted period of Stay, done with a square stamp inside your passport as Admitted until date. If you want to stay longer that that day you visit your local Immigration Office and apply for an Extension of that permitted to stay period. F.E Admitted untill 25 Nov 2018. Before this day, you can apply with the Non Immigrant B visa for a 1 year Extension of Stay and you get when approved a new stamp Extension of Stay permitted up to 25 Nov 2019.
We can ride that answer on every question, as we even did in the description on this page: "we cannot guarantee that the advice given will be 100 % successful to obtain the visa, extension of stay or entrance into Thailand." The final answer is always the person in the Consulate/Embassy to activate the visa and after that the Immigration Officer at the check in. You will never get 100% answers by mail.
If I remember the recent report here right, Penang requires your WP states Managing Director as your role for Non-B multi, but Kota Bharu requires only Director.
