Does anyone have recent experience to share getting a 1 year Non B Multiple re-entry visa from Penang? I have a work permit and all required paperwork and currently have an expiring 3 month non-b. I’m most interested in processing timelines, what time to arrive, how long the queues are, and what the waiting area is like. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats are sharing their experiences regarding the process of obtaining a 1-year Non-B multiple re-entry visa in Penang, particularly for directors with a work permit. It is noted that you must be listed as a director of your company and require specific documentation, including company paperwork and a valid work permit with at least 8 months left. The processing typically involves submitting paperwork one morning and collecting the passport the next afternoon, with an early arrival recommended to avoid long queues. The Thai consulate website is a useful resource for detailed requirements.

IF you go to the the thai consulate in Penang's website and click on the link ti visas it jumps you to the Kuala Lumpur website for the requirements.

There are three reasons you can apply for a non-B visa and each has their own specific requirements.

I’m not exactly sure. I have had great immigration assistant who had never let me down, so I’m not familiar with the details and specifics. I think the company documents, some financial statements or letters regarding financial statements, photos of you and the office, work permit if you have one, and the visa application. There’s more to it than that I think because I think a lot of it needs to be in Thai.

I got my 1 year Non-B in Penang in July ‘18. I applied a Monday morning. I arrived about 7 AM and were among the first 5 in the line. When they opened, they checked my paperwork and we got into the building. About 9 o’clock I was out again. Came back next day and collected my passport after 2 PM; took 10 minutes.

Unless I'm mistaken you turn in your paperwork one morning and you pick up your passport with the visa in it the next afternoon. They only take 100 applications a day

Your work permit needs 8 months left on it to get the year Non-B too.

the real question is are you listed as a director of your company?

If the answer is yes, you can get a year-long, multi-entry Non-B from Penang with the correct documentation,

If the answer is no, you can't.
