Am I obliged to swap my Thai visa stamps immediately after renewing my passport?

ORIGINAL POSTER
I have renewed my passport, I have a Thai wife 1 year extension. My old passport is not out of date but at extension time there would be only 6 months validity, hence the early passport renewal. My question, am I obliged to swap stamps immediately or can I do that at my ease?

TLDR : Answer Summary
After renewing your passport, you are not obligated to immediately swap your stamps at the immigration office, but it is advisable to do so before you leave the country or before your next 90-day report. Additionally, remember to update your bank with the new passport number to avoid any issues.

While there is no gun to your head to run right to the immigration office and get the stamps transferred you certainly should do it before you leave the country OR before your next 90 day report (and file a TM30 too with the new passport number ;) )
