Unfortunately this is an issue in every countries all around Asia. But because I’m a Thai person I will speak for Thailand. growing up was not easy because I have an African heritage I’m not gonna go into a full story of how I was bullied because of my skin colour but the one thing I can talk about is the amount of people telling me that “ if I was white I would be a lot more beautiful “ or “ you should bleach your skin so you’re more beautiful “

I’m trying not to make this post about racism but unfortunately it doesn’t matter if your half African or from laos or from south Thailand you’ll cope it. If you have a dark skin you are not pretty!!! No matter how beautiful you are. this is because people are so brain washed by tv shows and advertisements showing people that you need to be white in order to be beautiful. another thing is we are so into the whole looking like Japanese and Koreans those two countries are our main idols when it comes to fashion and how we should look. Back in 2000s most of our singers or celebrities all look the fkn same because they all trying to look like Asian pop stars. Girls literally inject themselves so they can have a white pearl skin , all the creams in the supermarket or it’s all whiten cream even the damn shower gels are all whiten products. But hey if your life you are entitled to do whatever you want to your body but I think Thailand should promote more about loving yourself. As I said before it’s not just Thailand. When I moved to Australia girls that have blonde hair dyed their hair to black hair and you have girls in Thailand that have black hair but they dyed their hair to blond! Thai girls wants to be white but Aussie girls wants to be black !! We are never going to be happy with ourselves.
