Which Thai consulates in the US issue a 6-month Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) for US passport holders?

You do not have to travel to get the METV -- at least not for the consulate in LA. Just send the required paperwork and your passport along with a self-addressed and paid return envelope (FedEx/UPS/USPS take your pick) and allow up to two weeks for processing, though mine only took a couple of days back in December. The LA visa office is aces.
