Do I understand things right? Did you send your current work contract even though you are not going to work remotely for that company???
If so, that was a mistake... Sending a work contract made them believe you applied as a remote worker. If you intend to freelance you need to
provide documentation that supports that.
When you send additional documents you should write an explanation that you apply as a freelancer (not remote worker) and provide documentation such as:
- business registration if you have one
- a portfolio showing your work
- screenshots or links to i.e. webpage and/or social media (or whatever you use to promote yourself/your work)
- client contracts and copies of invoices to clients
- bankstatements showing income/payments from clients etc.
the last update on processing time in Phnom Penh is 10 working days. If your application is not complete, or they for other reasons request further documents, the processing time might reset... so allow more than 2 weeks in Cambodia or wait for approval before buying a return ticket to Thailand.
To learn more about how hard/easy it is to apply there and for the specific embassy requirments, use the search function in this group (press the magnifying glass up to the right and type Phnom Penh).
so you are not doing a visa run, but a border run to enter on visa exemption... FYI there is no rule saying that you need to be gone for 4 days to do that, however it is not a bad idea. You get a "mini-holiday", seeing a new place and you "act as a tourist" (only a plus when you enter Thailand again).
there are no walk in process in Vietnam anymore. Not in any of the neighbouring countries (Laos switch to only e-visa around new year, but they've been for scheduled appointments only and the slots have been fully booked for weeks now). However Vietnam process e-visa applications pretty fast compared to many other countries (around 5 working days if the documentation is complete).
You told the embassy in Hanoi that you were in Vietnam on a TR visa and now you're in Bangkok on a TR visa... š¤
Did you already have a valid tourist visa for Thailand and left Vietnam shortly after writing to the embassy? If so, then what's the rush? You can stay for 60 days, extend for another 30 days and save more money (you have nearly 90 days for now). Then go back to Pakistan or exit to a country where you are entitled to apply.
no that is not what they said. They wrote that a sponsor should be a person that has direct relationship to you... It is likely to take more than the persons bank statement, i.e. a sponsorship letter, possibly copy of some kind of ID too etc.
if you are in a county where you are not a national or resident (like in Marikas case), then you can provide a picture of your passport page with the entry stamp to the country you are in.
There would have been an option to send the 90 day report by mail, but you asked too late... It needs to be sent 14 days prior to your 90th day, so that's no longer an option. You have to visit Immigration in person.
you write "if people are asked to have an onward flight you would have to ask why each travellers history is different"...
That kind of answers the question! It varies, so the OP should have an onward ticket to present, if being asked.
I mean, just because you were never asked in 20 years travelling, does NOT mean they will not ask ANYONE (or even you in the future).
I have been to Thailand 50+ times and was never asked either... However, only a few times, did I travel with a oneway ticket. Meaning if you have return ticket on the same booking they see it in the system and they won't ask. If you travel with a visa they won't ask etc. It varies among the airlines too, some ask for it, some don't.
I believe that a persons travel history (when checking passports) can have some inpact as well, wether they ask to see a ticket or not (especially at immigration).
Being able to present an onward ticket is a formal request to enter Thailand, although immigration rarely asks. They can though... and they can deny entry.
That you and I were never asked to present one, will not help the OP if they are asked for it. "I read on facebook..." wont get them onboard the plane or through immigration.

Hence I still advice to not travel with a oneway ticket.
