I’m in the States.

If I want to retire to Thailand next year, but plan to stay 6 months when I arrive this year; should I apply for 6 month MEV in the states, online, before my arrival in the Fall?

Or can I arrange it after I arrive?

I plan to use an agent; can they handle border runs every 60 days, or do I still need to so those with an MEV?

Would the same apply to my wife? (She is US perm resident, Nigerian passport.)

What if we have a baby; does a 6 month baby need a visa? A passport?

If I want to stay all year, can I plan on a retirement visa for my wife and I both, even tho I am of retirement age, but she is not?

Does the amount I have to show in a bank account change if I'm married?

I realize I will want an agent, but want to plan ahead with better info than I have at the moment.

Thanks for suggestions.

Hi Guys 👋. Hope everyone is wonderful! I’m about to start the process of applying for an MEV, from U.K. - however, I’m concerned about the financial evidence bit! My question is do you have to have had £5k in bank for last 6 months?

I’m confused by what it says on London Thai Embassy website! I have the funds but, I haven’t had no where near that in my bank the last 6 months - at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! ☺️

I need some advice. I was planning to get a guardian visa depending on my sons ED visa.

Unfortunately my current visa will expire mid October and we still don’t have his new passport back from the UK embassy. Before we don’t have the passport we can’t kick start the visa process with the school. His current passport expires 12/19.

Iam currently 4 months pregnant and Iam not allowed to fly after 6 months of pregnancy. If the visa stuff won’t be ready in time I have to apply for a single entry tourist visa which will give me another 3 months.

But then I would need to leave the country 2-3 weeks before my due date (by land, since Iam not allowed to fly anymore).

Any suggestions what I can do, I really want to avoid traveling by bus heavily pregnant and worst case getting into labor in a foreign country 😅 if the Baby decides to come early.

I was considering MEV in my home country but would then also have the problem of being forced to do border run after 90 days.

Question - American Citizen

Does anyone know if with a MEV it's possible to live in Thailand but work in Laos? Example..so part time work in Laos but then part time live in Thailand? NOT working in Thailand? Kinda a back and forth deal 1/2 and 1/2 during a month. 🤓

I've been in Laos 10 years... it was all so much easier in the past! 😎
