I'm getting started as a freelancer and I have about 700,000 Baht in the bank. Do you think if I have a registered business, portfolio, website, but not much freelance income, I would be denied the DTV for the freelance path? Or should I go the soft power route?

Any help appreciated. Just had a request for additional information from the Australian Thai Embassy.

I'm unsure what I need to provide for the "business registration of my company", as it isn't my company, I work for the Company and have provided my statement of employment. Also stated that I an employee and remote worker.

"Other request documents: Please provide a business registration of your company."

I’m applying for a DTV Workcation visa in Hanoi, where I’m currently located, as a U.S. business owner.

I have all my documents ready: bank statements (USD 17,000 savings, weekly USD 1,000 transfers), tax returns, self-employment letter, and hotel confirmation.

I’m confused about the apostille for my business registration. The embassy says it proves my business’s legitimacy, but it takes 1-2 weeks to get from Utah. Some say Hanoi might accept a non-apostilled certified copy if financial proof is strong.

Has anyone applied for the Workcation DTV as a business owner in Hanoi? Did you need the apostille, or was a certified business registration enough? Any tips? Thanks!

Hi, I’m applying for the DTV visa as a freelance business analyst and have just started working independently.

I’ve set up a professional website and created a brand name to present my services more professionally. However, I’m not yet registered as a business, and my income is currently below the £1,000 turnover threshold for self-employment registration.

For my initial invoices, should I issue them under my personal name, or should I include *both my name and my brand name*?

I’m concerned that using only the brand name might *prompt requests for business registration documents*, which I don’t yet have.

My goal is to ensure the visa process goes smoothly, will it open a can of worms adding my brand name on the invoice or is this something that is recommended since I'll be sending screenshots of my website.

Thanks in advance

Hi everyone! I'm currently applying for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) Softpower here in the Philippines and I have a couple of issues with the requirements.

I submitted the form and now they are asking me to upload:

• 3-Month Bank Statement: The statement I uploaded (July-August) is not sufficient.

• Income Supporting Documents: Documents verifying my source of income, such as a Certificate of Employment or business registration.

Issue 1 (Bank Statement): I already uploaded the 3-month bank statement showing the required 500k, but it is not an account I use regularly. Would it be helpful to upload the latest transaction history from my other bank account (the one I use more often), even if it doesn't have the 500k? I'm trying to figure out if they want proof of funds or proof of consistent cash flow.

Issue 2 (Employment/Income): In the application form, I stated my occupation as "Unemployed with No income." How should I address the request for a Certificate of Employment or business registration when I declared no income/employment? Is there an alternative document I can provide (e.g., a letter of explanation)?

Has anyone faced this challenge or can offer advice on how to proceed? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Approved in Manila

US passport

-Applied via agent using Muay Thai soft power.

-Asked for additional documents the very next business day:

1. Proof of ongoing income. I have read other reports of Manila asking for proof of income from other applicants in this group. Note that this is in addition to the 3 months of statements showing 500k baht and that this is for a soft power Muay Thai app, not workcation. The embassy did not specify how much income they were looking for but apparently I met that threshold.

2. Proof of Muay Thai payment beyond the receipt (I provided a credit card statement showing the payment).

3. Thai translation of business registration for Muay Thai school.

-All documents submitted the same day they were requested. My visa agent also prepared a cover letter explaining my source of income.

-Approved after a total of 4 business days. No interview or further questions.

Overall a smooth process. My agent and Muay Thai provider were very helpful and responded quickly to questions and requests for additional documents. I used Siam Legal as the agent and FitFac as the Muay Thai provider for a 9 month course.

# Taipei DTV Application Experience and Advice

1. E-Visa Application Online - Don't Apply In Person

I got my Certificate of Entry and Exit from the National Immigration Agency (NIA) on Monday and went to the Thailand Trade and Economic Office on Tuesday to apply in person.

The lady there just told me to apply online at [[members only]/)

Afterwards, I did see some people on here mentioned that, but since I did my research on here and overlooked that I think it is worth mentioning again.

2. "City of birth" on the application should match "Place of birth" on your passport.

A few days after I applied I received an email saying I needed to go to the Thailand Trade and Economic Office for an interview.

The lady who interviewed me complained that the information I provided didn't match my passport. I had no idea what she was talking about at first, but then she told me it is because my passport "place of birth", which is a state in the USA, did not match my application form, which asks for "city of birth" and that's what I provided.

Apparently, I need to hand write and sign a letter clarifying that the city in my application is located within the state on my passport.

3. For Workcation DTV - Business Registration / License Certificate Is Required

This shocked me. I work for one of the most visited websites in the world. Not only did I provide my employment verification letter and bank statements, but I provided 6 months of payslips since I saw some recent posts of people mentioning they provided those as well.

Regardless, the interviewer told me I needed to provide a business registration certificate or a copy of the business license.

The lady interviewing me was treating me as if I was defrauding them. I asked her why this wasn't just asked for in the first place as part of the application requirements if they were going to ask for it anyways. She said something like "we don't know what we will need until you apply". 🙄

4. Accused That Employment Verification Didn't Indicate "Remote Work" Status Even Though It Does

As aforementioned the lady interviewing me was extremely rude and treated me skeptically from the moment the interview started.

After the aforementioned complaints, she said "also your employment letter doesn't state that you work remotely" and when I said yes it does and pointed right at the line on the document in her hand she just said "oh".

Extra Content - Venting

I have dealt with "less than kind people" when applying for visas for other countries, but I am still astounded by how bad this experience was. This lady was extremely rude and skeptical towards me from the very beginning.

If they needed a business registration document then they should just ask for that when you apply.

They shouldn't ask for the city of birth on the E-Visa application and then treat you like you're committing fraud because it doesn't match place of birth in your passport.

They shouldn't fold their arms and tell me my employment verification letter doesn't say I can work remotely when it does.

Also, in the very beginning when she was asking about my work I said "it is one of the most visited websites in the world", but couldn't remember which exact number so I pulled out my phone to check and she said "well you should know this since this is your line of work" as if I was lying about my employment.

I've never seen somebody unnecessarily power trip like this so hard in my whole life. It seems like they are just inventing excuses to "interview you" for approval, when I already submitted everything they asked for and filled out everything correctly.

Final Words

I went to Taipei because somebody else I know who got the DTV said it was easiest and fastest there.

I went out of my way to come to Taipei just to apply for this visa.

I think it is clear that it is no longer the easiest or the fastest option. I would recommend to anybody else considering this that they should just apply from the country they spend most of their time in. I am now wishing I would have.
