Should I issue invoices under my personal name or include my brand name for my DTV visa application?

Hi, I’m applying for the DTV visa as a freelance business analyst and have just started working independently.

I’ve set up a professional website and created a brand name to present my services more professionally. However, I’m not yet registered as a business, and my income is currently below the £1,000 turnover threshold for self-employment registration.

For my initial invoices, should I issue them under my personal name, or should I include *both my name and my brand name*?

I’m concerned that using only the brand name might *prompt requests for business registration documents*, which I don’t yet have.

My goal is to ensure the visa process goes smoothly, will it open a can of worms adding my brand name on the invoice or is this something that is recommended since I'll be sending screenshots of my website.

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on issuing invoices for their freelance work while applying for a DTV visa in Thailand. They are not registered as a business and are worried that using their brand name on invoices might lead to requests for business registration documents. Community comments suggest various approaches: some recommend waiting until they are more established and gathering necessary documentation, while others advise being honest and straightforward in their application. Concerns arise about providing invoices, especially if they haven't been formally issued.

Why try to invent something that isn’t existing, do you think you can fool the Embassy

Be truthful and honest, not a liar

I'm thinking Loas or Vietnam. Yeah I can show that, do you think I should have my brand name on the contracts and invoices too? or just my name
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant I would just use my name applying as a freelancer. Applying with a business name will likely lead to a business registration request. Laos, Vietnam or Indonesia are great options.

I got a request to show few invoices, if you don't have it, do not apply

I have invoices and I will be issuing more. Did you apply as a freelancer?

If so, did your invoices have your name only, or did it have a brand/professional business name too?
Maurizio **********
Anonymous participant professional name too

thank you for replying. Since it had your name AND your brand/professional name on the invoices. Did this prompt them to ask for additional business information? (Assuming you applied as a freelancer)

Also which embassy did you apply via? thanks

Anonymous participant they ask to all additional information . I don't understand why you are so scared! Is it a legit business? Is it your own business? If everything is clear, legal and you have the 500k for 6 months, you will get dtv visa 100%...

I would wait a little while until you are more established if you want to go down this path.

You may need to wait with applying anyway to show that your 500kTHB have been in your account for 3 months plus. That should give you time to get organised

I used a step by step with checklists and templates that took the guess work out

Yes this is the plan to wait a little longer.

However, when applying as a freelancer. Do you think it would be better to issue the invoices to clients in my name only, or to include my name AND my brand name(from my website). Thanks in advance

Keep it simple, book a Thai cooking course.

Wise advice ✅

@James *******
not really if the intent is too ultimately be a freelancer

@Axel ******
lack of demonstrated operation of the DTV workcation business may lead to it being denied.

@James *******
as far as I am aware there is no minimum for how long this has to be established.

Looking at the time based requirements of cash in bank and payslips etc he might be good to go in 3-6 months

@Axel ******
again Good Luck 🍀 will be needed.

@James *******
hence my suggestion to wait and get paperwork together

3 months might be sufficient for that

@Axel ******
wishful thinking 🤔.

"The intent is to ultimately become a freelancer," so he isn’t one yet. Apply according to the requirements and what you can actually prove, not just your wishes. I also hope to get a retirement visa in 15 years. 😅

Anonymous participant 137 hence I mentioned that it might be wise to wait until then

nothing stopping you working as a freelancer with a DTV through a soft power route.
