Hello Group.

I opened a bank account with Bangkok Bank and deposited the 800,000 Baht into the account, which they told me I had to do. They’re also pestering me to open a savings account and deposit a further 100,000 Baht. I initially thought they were advertising me that any amount over 100,000 Baht attracted a 4% interest rate, so I said oh great. But have since realised, it’s a secondary account and I’ve now told them I don’t wish to open a second savings account. I’ve since had a few phone calls asking me to go in to make the deposit.

I’m assuming this is purely a secondary account and will not cause any issues with my bank account I’ve just opened ? I’ve been told I must make a deposit within 30 days of opening the initial account. The language barrier has made it a tad difficult to understand exactly what the process is. Any advice please ?

Thanks v much.

Hi, i am going to apply for the yearly O retirement Visa using the monthly 65.000 transfer system soon. ( Currently doing the 800.000 system.

Q- what do you guys do if you are out of Thailand as far as the 65.000 transfer every month. Do you stop the transfer while you are away, or do you have to transfer 65.000 every month regardless of where you are? Thanks.

I currently have a 1 year Non-O visa marrried to Thai. USA passport. I have a bank account with the necessary amount of money got future extensions. I am planning to go back to the states for a bit but want to have the option for future Non-O visas and extensions. I want to put my wife’s name on my account for purposes of unforeseen circumstances (I.e. death or incapacitation) so she is able to handle my finances. My question is will the bank account still be acceptable for the purposes of the Non-O visa or does the bank account have to be in my name and my name alone for the next time I apply for the visa? Thank you.
