Are South Africans able to apply for ED visas in Thailand currently, and which embassies can they use?

Hi all. Are South Africans applications for ED visas currently being accepted? If so, from which embassies? The reason I ask is that a couple of language schools here in Phuket have told me they can't apply on behalf of South Africans at the moment. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary

The current situation allows South Africans to apply for ED visas through Thai consulates in Laos (specifically Vientiane and Savannakhet) and one consulate in Malaysia (Kota Bharu). However, applications cannot be submitted at the Kuala Lumpur or Penang consulates.

At this time you can use the two thai consulates in Lao (Vientiane or Savannakhet) OR you can use one of the thai consulates in Malaysia, Kota Bharu, you can't use KL or Penang though.

Yes I'm really going to school by the way, language shools around here are saying South Africans will not be granted extensions, I don't know why, that's what they're saying. That's why I'm asking here.

nope, there is no thai consulate in S/E Asia that will issue a year-long, multi-entry Non-ED visa.

And why would immigrations not give 90 day extensions on ED visas to S/A passport holders? IF you meet the requirements (like you're REALLY going to school) you shouldn't have a problem getting a 90 day extension

Do you know if we can apply for a multiple entry? Apparently immigration will not extend stay from within the country for South Africans.
