TLDR : Answer Summary
A user reported that the US embassy will not issue a letter for an extension of stay. Comments noted that many embassies are following this approach, suggesting those on amnesty should prepare to leave by the deadline, while others recommended checking directly with the embassy for possible COVID-19 related extensions.

I'm not going to let this thread turn into a "my country issues the COVID-19 extension of stay". Contact your embassy and ask them if they issue the COVID-19 letter. If they do, you will be granted an additional 30 days after September 26 to stay in Thailand.

Most embassies did the same thing when the amnesty was extended last time.
Thanx for the update.
At this time IF you're on amnesty all you can do is wait it out and if you can't find a long term extension option, then as the amnesty says "prepare to depart" on Sept 26th..
