TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around rumors regarding a potential reduction of the visa exemption period from 60 days to 30 days in Thailand. Several commenters clarify that if you have already entered Thailand and received a 60-day stamp in your passport, any changes to the visa exemption policy will not retroactively affect your permitted stay. Current regulations stipulate that you must leave by the date marked on your stamp, which in your case is March 17. While some believe the rumors about visa changes are true, they are still under review and not finalized, so you can proceed with your travel plans as scheduled.

Wow, you have a huge 15,000bt fine coming, a 5 year ban and a spell in the monkey house, alternatively you could just read what's stamped in your passport.

Second most stupid question that I have read here.

You're already in Thailand and have a stamp date in the passport.

Will the magic immigration ink change the date in your passport?

WTF? 🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪

Well given that the news outlets in Bangkok are reporting that the parliament has voted to make visas better for tourism, I'd say this rumour is absolutely BS

The 2025 visa rule changes related to visa extensions (border runs and number of annual trips etc) are in force.

The current proposals (including the 60 to 30 day reduction) are at an early stage. The only official guidance I found was to check from November 2026.

In short, rumors are true in that they relate to a proposal; false that they related to an actual change.

In any case, on any entry to Thailand currently, all existing rules relating to your entry type can be enforced rigorously.

It is being discussed officially, but no decision has been made yet. There will be an official announcement when they decide.

It will happen within a few months. I will boldly state by July 1st. They introduced 60 day visa exempt in july 2024. They are simply going back to what existed. You can get 2 month tourist visas online now so it is easier than before. By using online application they have vastly improved ability to get a visa prior to arrival. It is great leap forward for Thailand.

You've already been stamped in anyway, of cause it will not affect you.

Are you mentally challenged? Could you please check the "permission to stay" date on your passport instead of asking unnecessary questions?

It was a republished article from 2024 which for some reason now, everyone thinks it’s offical and happening soon, if only people weren’t so quick to be gullible these days. This is close to the 100th post now about this story and nothing has changed 🤦‍♂️

If you are already in Thailand and got a 60 day permitted stay stamp in your passport, that stamp won’t magically change to 30 days even if the law changes later. 😉
