Any news on the 45 day visa exempt being extended after end of march 2023, or is it going back to 30 days visa exempt ?

Answer summary

Current reports indicate that there is no official news on the extension of the 45-day visa exemption after March 2023. Some sources suggest that a government department is advocating for an extension until the end of the year, yet there are counter opinions from immigration authorities. Travelers are advised to plan based on the 30-day exemption as announcements may be made close to the deadline.

At this stage, base any plans on 30 days. The TAT is pushing for an extension until the end of the year, but some reports are saying immigration is pushing back against it. Ultimately it's a MFA decision, but as Jo has suggested, any announcement will be at the last minute.

No news as yet. A number of press reports saying that XYZ government department is asking for it to be extended until the end of the year but nothing official.
