Hi guys, my visa was due to expire on 28th March, but I extended it about a week ago until 27th April.. Will the British Embassy still give help with a visa extension for me and my girlfriend despite not having gone home when we technically could have? Haven’t tried booking any flights home either as all I’ve witnessed, first hand, is stories about cancelled flights or passengers not being allowed on to flights because the country of layover isn’t accepting other nationalities. Any help appreciated! Peace and love!

can get a letter from the embassy requesting the Thai government to extend his extension of stay based on being a tourist. His current stamp expires in late April. My advice is to request that letter sometime mid April to allow people who's entry stamp is going to expire soon, and in the meantime, to catch the next flight out of Thailand.

Because this thread is going sideways, I'm closing comments.

The British Embassy will give you a letter to present to Thai Immigration for an additional 30 days.

I don't know. This is Thailand, I'm not familiar with their laws.

The airlines should know who is allowed inside the country and who isn't.

You've based your strategy on getting home on hearsay? If you believe the Thai government will give you an indefinite stay in their country you need to wake up pretty fast

By heard, I mean that I was at Bangkok airport for about 10 hours, searching for flights home, all of which were being cancelled or overbooked. Also ran into a couple I had met who weren’t allowed to go to Heathrow via Hong Kong as Hong Kong weren’t allowing British people in their country

Explain your Embassy, I made no effort to leave Thailand, can you give me a letter that I have cancelled fligth and are stuck inside Thailand.

It wouldn’t be the British embassy giving you the visa? Am I wrong?
Kimberley ******
So to answer his question...I don’t think it would matter that the British government told you to go home. That wouldn’t impact the chances of getting an additional visa.
Benjamin ******
No, the British Embassy would only give visas to people who want to visit the UK.
