Hi All, I’m on the amnesty now and I consider to get the letter from uk embassy and obtain 30 days extension on my 30 days tourist visa(on airport stamp). Could I do the transition to different kind of visa or extend it further with another letter?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is currently on an amnesty and seeking to extend their 30-day tourist visa obtained via an airport stamp by getting a new letter from the UK embassy, and is also inquiring about transitioning to a different visa type. Commenters confirm that as long as the embassy issues a new letter, multiple extensions are possible. However, there is discussion regarding the UK embassy's stance on issuing such letters and the implications of potential announcements from Thai immigration regarding the amnesty. The conversation reflects concerns about visa requirements and procedures, with many expressing urgency and uncertainty over upcoming immigration announcements.

Looks like immigration isn't going to make an announcement....lots of people will be without embassy letter or extension before 26th I fear and without funds to fly home

. A lot of people hoping the government will do a huge backflip. They might be about to contribute to the tourism budget in a way they never expected! I don't know why people aren't banging on the door of their respective embassies. The Thai government threw a lifeline a month ago, but I do think a lot have sat back with fingers crossed!

. Why do people keep saying immigration have not made an announcement? It was made about six weeks ago. Here it is again for those who missed it!

because immigration always make an announcement in the last days running up to the end of Amnesty....they are meeting 22nd. Even if it is to say get out...they will still make an announcement

. Yes I understand what you're saying, and I could be completely wrong but the announcement six weeks ago did say "get out by the 26th" in different words. Unlike previous times, they did not reopen the overflow immigration office to process visas, and have been giving stacks of 30 day extensions. I really can't see them saying "all those who haven't made the effort to follow the guidelines and buy an extension, well don't worry, we'll let you stay free for three months". They would be inundated with complaints from people who did pay for visas, demanding refunds, and the embassies would take it as a slap in the face, which could cause some diplomatic relation issues. There again, this is Thailand, but I can't see it

where's it confirmed there's going to be an announcement? Usually there are rumours in the media before any announcement but I've seen nothing.

cabinet meets 22nd. Whether it is on agenda is another case, however, the last two times, days leading up to amnesty they have addressed it

so no actual announcement just massive speculation? I wouldn't be holding your breath as usually the media has info on proposals beforehand and I don't recall seeing any this time round

Immigration told me you can have as many extensions as you want as long as your embassy issues you a new letter.
