TLDR : Answer Summary
The UK Embassy is currently addressing concerns regarding visa situations for UK residents and expats in Thailand, particularly in light of COVID-19, where standard procedures may be disrupted. They have suggested that individuals requiring visa extensions can contact them for a support letter to facilitate this process. Updates on this topic indicate that letters can be obtained for visa extensions, such as for Non Imm O 90-day multi-entry visas, although applicants are advised to print these letters in color to avoid potential issues at Immigration.

Thanks for sharing and thanks for letting us know some of you are able to receive e-mails or letters by post.

Go and use them at Immigration to get a few days of stay, please use that period to find a way home.

Received my letter just now. Just under 72 hours from my final request, and 72 hours before my visa expires.

now pray that the immigration office you use accepts it.

Print it in COLOR and print the email they sent it to you in as well.

There are reports that people are being denied the extension because it's a PDF not the original stamped letter from the consulate

UK embassy has updated its COVID-19 Visa Extension Applications – Support Letter information. UK residents living here can email the embassy for a letter to extend their existing visas, e.g. Non Imm O 90 day multi entry. This also includes tourists.

That comment came from the embassy in response to a poster's question. There's no official announcement or details at present.
