Do I need a letter from the UK embassy to apply for a COVID extension on my TR visa in Thailand?

Hi group

I arrived in Thailand on a TR visa.

I left uk on 11th December.

So regarding applying for the covid extension I have been led to believe that I would need a letter from my embassy saying I cant return to uk..

Is this really the case?

I cant believe the British embassy is going to issue such a letter to someone who has only recently decided to come to Thailand for vacation.

I guess I could write to the embassy .the worst they can say is NO !))

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the necessity of obtaining a letter from the British embassy to apply for a COVID extension on their Tourist Visa (TR visa) after arriving in Thailand. Comments clarify that either a letter stating the inability to return to the UK or documentation indicating the embassy does not issue such letters is acceptable. Furthermore, they mention that the current COVID extension applications end on January 29 and suggest visiting immigration before that date for assistance.

If on a Tourist Visa you were stamped in for 60 days.

Allowed one 30 day extension.

The applications for any 60 day COVID extensions ends January 29.

Go to immigration before January 29 and ask if you can apply for the 60 days extension.

1,900 Thai baht.

If they say no...

Then apply for the 30 days.

Not true. You either need a letter from your embassy saying you can't return to the UK, OR a letter from your embassy (OR a screenshot from the embassy website) saying they do not issue the letter. See
