I'm going to apply for my 1st Covid Extension this week (in Ayuthaya). My visa-waiver extension runs to 20/2 so I expect to only gain another 30d but that's fine by me. I've 3 questions;
1) I assume the UK Embassy don't provide support for this: Is there a statement from them somewhere on-line which I could/should print out & include with my application?
2) I believe some Immigration offices will tell you to come back in a week or 2 as your application is "under consideration". Do they keep hold of your passport & are you obliged to stay at the same address for that period? (I'm a back-packer, another 2 wks here would be too long for my liking).
3) Is there a possible downside if refused the extension: can you lose the 1900B or can your current "stay-to" date be shortened?
Thanks for any insight.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to apply for their first Covid Extension in Ayutthaya, seeking clarification on the role of the UK Embassy in supporting this application, the handling of their passport during the application process, and potential consequences if their extension request is denied. Responses indicate that the UK Embassy does not provide necessary support letters, immigration does not hold passports during consideration periods (though the applicant must return to the same office), and there are no refunds if an extension is refused.
