Has anyone used the new automatic gates for departures from BKK airport? The reason Iām asking is that I always stay for 30 or 60 days with my flight home leaving around 1am on the day after (technically an overstay). I have never had an issue going through the manned immigration as it is before midnight. But would the automatic system highlight an overstay?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users discussed the use of automatic gates for departures at Bangkok's BKK airport, focusing on concerns about overstaying visas. The consensus is that as long as travelers pass through immigration before midnight on their departure day, they shouldn't face issues. Some users noted the automatic system doesn't provide a physical stamp but records digital entries, and there are no reported charges or severe repercussions for a one-day overstay.
The automatic gates do not give you a stamp in your passport but a digital stamp into their system. If you need a physical stamp in your passport, go to the immigration desk instead.

I have no idea but there is no charge for a one day overstay and no repercussions for the tiny stamp with a squiggle U get in your passport.
I'm speaking from experience over 17 years. I've done it at least three times entering by land and air many times since with various visas and had no problems. Also the arseholes at my local immigration office thumb through my nearly full passport over and over again trying to find something to find fault with but they never can because I am totally legit.
For a bit of fun you can hit passport control at 23:59 to maximise your time in Thailand.

If your homeward flight departs around 1am you would hopefully pass through immigration (manned or automated) prior to midnight the day before. No worries.

Automated gates are for all passports and all visa/visa exempt types?
