TLDR : Answer Summary
The community is assessing whether the Thai government will extend the 60-day visa extension related to COVID-19 restrictions after an upcoming announcement. While many believe it will be extended due to ongoing travel constraints and the pandemic situation, opinions vary. Some speculate that the extension may not be directly influenced by travel conditions in the UK, while others emphasize financial motives for the extension. Discussions also highlight the need for proof of travel arrangements, such as cancelled and rescheduled airline tickets, but indicate the lack of previous enforcement of such requirements.

I think the answer will be yes, they will extend the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, however they will want to see a cancelled airline ticket and a reschedule ticket.
just live frugally at the end of the day you got your family there which is everything to you, just cover the basics... Mrs and kids etc. But yeah its a cunt of a situation. But we knew this when we left the uk.
fuck that, taking the piss. Its more financially viable to just sit it out. Maybe ill go to an island and just detox for while but i aint paying for another quarantine seriously

I reckon you good for extensions til Sept/October. There is still more bullshit to come. African strains, double mutant strains etc.

I think it would be advisable to go get an extension now if you can, so you have the full time up to May. Then at least you have until then if they do stop.
I am stamped in until may but my country started playing games with flights landed . Plus going back ther in may would be a 1 way ticket to destination fucked 🤣😂
true.... almost the reality wherever one goes now. So just gonna stay in place until some things clear up

It will be extended again but it's nothing to do with what's happening in the UK. The UK is stopping people from leaving, doesn't affect people returning. It's actually more to do with getting another 1900 baht off people (or 9800 baht for those stupid enough to use an agent) and getting more foreign money into the economy.

Thai logic also allows many foreigners to continue to stay in Thailand when they could have already gone home.
is it official that the program will be extended, or are you guessing ? :)

Ulrik Sinding. I'm guessing. Any announcement will be made on Monday. I could be totally wrong and we might see an orderly "prepare to leave the country" at the end of May. That will give people two months to arrange departure. Logic suggests it will be extended, but logic and Thailand don't always go together! 🤣
Thank you for the clarification. I have a few friends that are waiting for the news, but I haven't seen any official posts yet. (they could easily be hidden in the endless stream of developing plans, hence my question :))
I think I would have written"never" instead of "don't always" ;)

Nothing wrong with that.l people already here are not a covid risk, anymore than Thai nationals.

Edward Nathan. I think the point is that recent arrivals have just travelled across the world, probably stopped somewhere in transit, and the first thing they do is make a declaration that it's unsafe for them to travel. 🤣
the global situation is worse, not better. The only improvement is the hope that mass vaccinations is successful. And the ability to get a flight ‘home’ never has, and never actually will have anything to do with it. The ‘unable’ to fly is just another way of saying I ‘don’t want to fly’ or innumerable other reasons why return to ‘home’ country is not possible for people.
So what you are saying is that the covid extensions were created cause the Thai government cares about foreigners well being, and thinks that it's cruel to send them back to their home countries?
For some nationalities, it was a genuine problem to get a plane out of the country for a few months. and I am pretty sure that was the initial idea behind the extension. Why else require embassy letters to state that you can not leave the country.
lol. Is that what I’m saying 😂😂😂. Or is that just feeds your own narrative. Are you under the impression that Thailand is the only nation with the same problem?
No country is sending back people whom don’t want to leave....
It was the way they initially ‘advertised’ the extension, but the requirement for ‘unable to travel’ certification from other embassies disappeared in a hurry. Coincidence?

Todd McGowan, I don't have a narrative to feed. I have a proper visa and couldn't care less about the covid extension.
No country in the world is sending tourists home, and you can just stay in whatever country you are in as long as you want. 😂 What a joker you are.
From the first post I replied :

From your last post :

Can you make up your mind?.
Anyway, it seems to be a rather pointless debate. And as long as you can not seem to agree with yourself, I doubt that we will ever agree on the subject.
Enjoy your evening :)

Couple days ago I would have said no. Then I learned Australians can't even get back to their home country still. Anything is possible.

David Broadfoot thailand was closed until late summer/early fall and everyone was still pretty clueless to what the hell was going on with covid
I don’t think that constitutes no logic at all, but since they have precautions set up they’ve been giving covid extensions on continuum
also why kick out people here that are already here given the economics, I mean it’s thailand so logic need not apply but I’ll be surprised if they don’t do another round of covid extensions
