TLDR : Answer Summary
The community is awaiting updates regarding the 60-day COVID unable to travel extension in Thailand, with expectations for an announcement around the end of March 2021. The current extension lasts until May 30. Some members speculate that any updates could come shortly before the end of the existing extension on March 30, while others believe it will likely be extended, citing the need for arrangements among those affected.

All you can do is wait and see. Logically, all those on covid extensions would not have time to make the arrangements to leave, so it will be extended. There might (just might) be further conditions, such as proof of cancelled flight, or back to the good old embassy letter. Only time will tell, so let's not panic!

My current "covid unable to travel extension" ends on April 7th so can i go on march 30th to get an extension?
MOST offices will let you apply for a new extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp (Jomtien is the exception) AND if you're getting a new covid extension <- meaning applying for another one when you're already ON one , they add the new 60 days to the expiration date you have now.
AND you need to understand that the police order allowing these 60 day covid extensions runs out March 30th <-that's NEXT Tuesday). Meaning unless they extend the order no one can get ANY covid extension after that date.
I believe you are confusing how long you GET stamped in on that extension with how long the program allowing people to apply for the extension runs. You get 60 days so if you applied on the last day the program was available (Tuesday the 30th) you'd get stamped in until the end of May
BUT
THAT is not the same as saying the program runs until the end of May. :) At this time it most definitely does NOT. It runs out on March 30th
yep I 100% agree, the way that article was worded has been the source of all the mix up on this program and how it works AND when it runs out

Tod Daniels. Yes, I don't think I'm explaining myself too well. I've urged people I know (even if their current stamp expires at some date in April) to go on or before the 30 March, to ensure they get at least 30 May. I feel that taking a chance that there will be an announcement on 30 March may be too risky. The government and/or immigration are sometimes a little lax with timings.
yes but the last day you can currently apply for it is March 30th.

Stuart Cumming. Exactly. So hopefully people will get the latest extension on or before the 30th, because going by past experience, Thai immigration are not known for making announcements in a timely fashion.
what it appears from many reports is that if you are getting a second or third Covid extension they add on the 60 days. If you’re switching from some other visa/extension then they date it from the day you apply. Not all offices have the same procedures. Yours may vary.

Stephan Studtmann. My neighbour's last extension expired 30 March. He went yesterday (25), and got an "under consideration" stamp, but the IO told him when he returns he will be stamped in until May 30. So the 60 days runs from the expiry of the last stamp, not from yesterday's date (if that all makes sense!)
