Will Thai authorities approve further 30-day visa extensions for tourists due to COVID-19?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone has any advice. My family and I are in Thailand as tourists. We have already done the 30 day extension and we got visa extension request letters from our embassies and will try to get another 30 days soon. Do you know if the authorities are likely to approve further 30 day extensions (assuming we get new letters). Long story short, we are residents in China (our whole lives are there - our apartment, all of our stuff, our kid's school...our cat!), but the Chinese authorities just temporarily banned foreigners (even legal residents such as us) from returning. I don't know how long this ban will be in place for. The problem is we literally have nowhere else to go. My wife and I are from different countries, so China is the only place we all have legal residence....and we're not allowed there!!! All other countries in the region (especially places we'd risk being stuck) seem to be closed. Jetting off further afield also makes no sense as China is so close and it might not be possible soon to travel back when the ban ends given the massive reduction of flights. Any advice would be much appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A family currently in Thailand as tourists is seeking advice about their visa situation after facing travel restrictions due to a COVID-19-related ban in their home country of China. They have already received a 30-day extension on their visa and have letters from their embassies for further extension requests, but they are uncertain about the likelihood of getting approved for additional 30-day extensions from Thai authorities.

Sorry, but the reasons are not valid to live in Thailand.

I never seen people getting a visa based on the living cost in their home country.

And to get back into China, is something nobody on this page can help you.

The choice is yours, or back to the US or UK and start a new life to bridge the period for new dreams, or gamble and stay in Thailand. Good luck and stay healthy.

okay, and now that we sussed out you're here on 30 day visa exempt entries, you got your normal 30 day extensions and NOW you have letters from your consulate to go get the unable to travel due to covid-19 extension.

SO what you need to do is GO get those extensions when you have a few days left on your current extensions.

I already said we were here as tourists and did the 30 day extension. However, this doesn't answer my question about if anyone knows if the Thai authorities might allow more than 1 covid-19 extension.

What is your nationality? Country who's passport you hold?

US/UK. However, going back to either would be a really bad idea. Other than the fact that both countries are imploding, we don't live there and have nowhere to stay. Plus, as I said, we'd likely find getting back to China almost impossible soon.

Here let's summarize your plight

you came in as tourists of an 'un-defined nationality' (meaning in that whole post you never mentioned it :(

You got 30 day extensions and now you have embassy letters to go apply for your unable to travel due to covid-19 extension. SO go do that when you have a few days left on your current 30 day extension

Your country allows you to enter, with your legal wedded wife and child.

The country of your wife let her in with her legal wedded husband and child.

Sorry, but that is not what you like to hear.

There is no other place than Thailand, I agree, but that does not make Thailand responsible for your choices.

You have to contact your embassy to see how they can help you.

Yes. We can. But like I said, we have no home in either country. We'd soon run of money (getting there, the insane cost of living there). And, as I said, we'd probably not be able to get back to our actual home when it reopens (not sure when, but it might only be a month or two...of course it could be longer, but nobody knows).

Despite the fact that we don't live there and have nowhere to stay.

So you suggest that my wife goes back to the US, and my kids and I to the UK?

@Robert ******
Sure. For a limited time. Just like here. Except we'd then be half a world away from China (where we need to get back to). I know Thailand is not responsible for us. However, our respective embassies can only give advice for us, not as a family as a whole. Their advice is to return home. However, China is our home.

okay, No disrespect intended but how about we cut the unimportant b/s out of your post :O
