What countries should we consider for applying for a Thai tourist visa extension during our stay?

Hello everyone! First time posting and looking for some advice.

My wife and I hold a mexican passport, and we are currently on a Visa On Arrival Stamp in Bangkok. We are looking to extend our stay for at least 3 more months, so we considered traveling outside of Thailand for a few days or weeks even, and applying for a 60 days Visa with 30 days extension from outside Thailand.

Are there any countries you recommend us applying for the Tourist Visa from? I've heard Penang, Malaysia is a good place to apply from.

Also quick note, we arrived in Thailand on June on a Special Tourist Visa, renewed it once on August 18th, had a 7 day extension at the Immigration Division 1 Office at the end of November and exited Thailand on December 2nd to visit Vietnam. We are back in Thailand on the VOA stamp as I mentioned earlier.

Should I be worried that because of our long stay our tourist visa might be refused?

Thank you in advance for the time and help!

Edit: I should add that I am due to leave Thailand on January 2nd, which is when our VOA stamp expires.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Mexican couple currently holding a Visa On Arrival (VOA) stamp in Bangkok is seeking advice on where to apply for a 60-day Thai tourist visa with a potential 30-day extension. They are considering traveling to nearby countries like Malaysia for this process and have concerns about their eligibility for a tourist visa due to their long stay in Thailand.

We don't do the "what country do I go to to get the tourist visa" posts ๐Ÿ˜•

YOU look at the websites of the thai consulates in the area, MEET the requirements, get the visa.

Each one has slightly different requirements so check carefully and make sure you follow that consulates rules for getting a tourist visa.

Penang or Kota Bharu Malaysia, Hanoi or HCMC Vietnam, Vientiane or Savannakhet Lao are all consulates in the area that sell tourist visas. Pick one ๐Ÿ™‚ At this time the one in Savannakhet has the least requirements and seems to be the most 'user friendly'.

Understood, thanks for the recommendation and for clarifying about my question. Do you consider that our current enter/exit history would give us any problems? We have no overextensions and have provided all required documents at all times.

you arrived VOA Visa on Arrival as holders of passports of Mexico... And were STAMPED in for 30 days.

There are NO extensions available for you inside Thailand.

Suggest you try to do as

suggested.

Try to get a Thai tourist visa.

ASK an experienced Border Visa Run Service company in your area IF they will take you to either Vientiane or Savannakhet, Laos to apply for the Thai tourist visa.

Be sure you tell them your passport nation and your recently arrived VOA.

Do you try to do it yourself. You need an experienced Visa Run Service Company.

They know what you need to do and IF you will be successful in getting the Thai Tourist Visa.

A New Thai Tourist Visa will get you 60 days on arrival into Thailand ..Plus one 30 day extension of stay.

Understood! Yes, that's the plan. Getting a new Tourist Visa from outside Thailand. If you know of any consulates outside Thailand that offer tourist visas easily we'd love to know. Thanks for the reply and assistance!

! We'll definetly consider Savannakhet on our plans. I'd like to know more about the consulate in Penang, however.

Should I make a new post asking for experiences getting a tourist visa on Penang?

I ask about Penang because flights are affordable and as a mexican citizen I don't need a visa to enter Malaysia, so if would be ideal.

pass on All but Savannakhet at THIS time.

Consider it Wise to Go to Savannakhet. BUT be sure you ASK an experienced border Visa Run Service company about taking you.

Bottom line...you entered Thailand VOA... knowing that there is no extension of stay available inside Thailand.

We receive many reports from those who have obtained or tried to get a Thai Visa from among the SE Asia Thai Embassy's or Consulates.

Savannakhet is where you need to go.

We wish you success and

you need to post on the southern thailand groups asking about any experiences in Penang, and remember just because one person skated thru down there getting a visa, if they're not holding mexican passport with your exact entry history their experience has ZERO to do with what might happen to you

The consulate in Savannakhet doesn't care what your entry/stay history is like at all. Other consulates I couldn't say. It's a crap shoot with an lengthy stay even on the correct visas/extensions.
