Hi all, I am in Thailand on an extended visa that as of recent news will now expire on the 30th April. I am living with my extended family and have received so many mixed messages on what is the right thing to do in my situation. My previous plans were to travel to France before my visa expires and live with my partner. I have had conflicting advice on whether to stay here with my family until they re-open the border or go home which as we all know will be a huge mission. I am in no financial position right now to be able to afford a flight home and am concerned about the cancellations as well as the 2 weeks forced government quarantine. I am also afraid that if I overstay my welcome in Thailand and they don't extend my Visa I will be fined or prosecuted.

If anyone has some advice I would greatly appreciate it, I'm sure there are a few of us in similar situations. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on an extended visa in Thailand, which is set to expire on April 30th, and is dealing with conflicting advice regarding their next steps. They are considering traveling to France to join their partner but are troubled by financial limitations, travel cancellations, and quarantine requirements. They express concern about the implications of overstaying their visa in Thailand. Responses from the community suggest that automatic extensions may occur if borders remain closed and offer reassurance about overstaying penalties.

I'm confused, after april 30th you want to stay in Thailand or go back to France?

So my previous plans were to travel to France before all the restrictions started. Due to the border being shut, I don't have this option any more, however, I have to decide whether or not I will go back home to Australia or stay in Thailand. My apologies I thought I was posting this on an Australians in Thailand page. Thank you for your concern

. I think the OP is from Australia, but is not being very clear on many things

Hi dear, we can not forsee, though if borders do not open the April 30 automatic extensions will be prolonged. No need to get fear over overstay ..

When border opens you have choice of flying out to where ever or get new visa at next door country. All be good ๐Ÿ€

. My understanding is that airport restrictions will be relaxed from May 1st giving more airlines access. Visas will be extended for 14 days automatically. When tourists have made their bookings to return home they will attend the immigration office with their flight details and their visa will be extended to the date of their departure. This will negate any need for people to all attend the office en masse, and will allow a stepped repatriation from Thailand

What exactly is an "extended visa"? For people to give you decent advice you need to give proper details

So upon arrival, I received one-month free from Feb 18- March 18. The extension was for my second month 18th March to 18th April. Hope this helps explain this better, thank you for your concern.
