Will my previous Non-B visa issue affect my future applications?

I had worked on Non-B visa and work permit for 6 years in Bangkok. When I left the job, my boss took the work permit back stating he will cancel it. And I just flew back to my country. Of course on immigration they said I have a non-b visa and it will be cancelled if I don’t take re-entry permit and I did tell them that it’s ok.

My question is that if I try to apply non-B again in future would it be any issue? If yes, would there be any penalty as I didn’t deliberately go to immigration and canceled it?

Thanks,

TLDR : Answer Summary
After working in Bangkok for six years, the user left without formally canceling their Non-B visa and work permit. They are concerned about future applications for a Non-B visa due to not following proper cancellation procedures. Comments suggest that not canceling the extension of stay and work permit correctly can lead to penalties if they attempt to apply for a new Non-B visa later. Specifically, a charge of 500 baht per day may be assessed from the date they were supposed to cancel, up to a maximum of 20,000 baht. Returning to Thailand for visa-exempt or tourist visa entries should not be affected, but prior immigration matters may cause issues when seeking employment again.

You signed but you did not follow up what you signed. It could bite you in the a.. when you try to do this again, this counts for Immigration as well as Ministry of Labor.

Be aware what you sign, telling I did not know does not count when your signature is under this text.

The form you signed at Immigration as example:

I would bet you were not on ANY Non-B visa, you were on a yearly extension of stay from the immigration office. Your responsibility when you stop work is to cancel your work permit (it's YOURS) and then cancel your extension of stay at the immigration office with termination paperwork THEN you could leave.

Failing to follow the correct way to cancel your extension/work permit can and will cause you grief if/when you ever decide to work here again. They will charge you 500 baht a day from the day you SHOULD have cancelled your extension until the day you're applying for a new Non-B, (up to 20K baht)

It will not affect you comin' in and out on visa exempt/tourist visa entries or getting extensions on those just if you ever go to work here again.

As long as a fine is imposed I am ok to pay as I did make a mistake there. But could it hamper the chances of getting that non-B or extension that’s my main question. Thanks for your answer.

nope, won't hamper it at all, you're far from the only person whose done this. It's a pretty standard thing. You'll definitely experience it when you go to get an extension on a Non-B OR apply for a Non-B in country
