TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Thailand under a visa exemption and plans to travel to China for a wedding from January 25-31. They want to apply for a DTV visa at the Madrid embassy while in China on January 25 and are concerned about whether their application will be affected since they will not be in Spain at the time of application. Comments from the community emphasize that applicants typically need to be in the country where they apply and suggest potential issues with the application being rejected if not adhering to this requirement.

You're supposed to be in country you apply when you apply and stay during all process.

Do what you want. But if you get refused you will know why

thanks for answer, i thought you can apply from country but travel afterwards. Thank you.

The country you apply from doesn't matter... what does matter is that you remain in that country you applied from until approval. You'll likely here some people managed to do it anyway BUT it's an unnecessary risk. It's better for you to apply when you're in Spain and stay in Spain until a decision is made.

No...you are to stay in the country where you are applying for the DTV visa until the decision is known.
Elías ********
You can't. Madrid embassy might check dates and reject the application based on you not being under their jurisdiction

You need to apply at the embassy of your current location. So or you apply in China when in China or in Spain when in Spain. They are sometimes requesting proves of location and that could cost you your application fees.

Second question is: Current location and you are willing to put Spain while being in China.

Than at the end you sign a disclaimer that you told the truth and nothing but the truth.

Yep, it is going to work.

You need to be in Spain before you apply visa Spain. Are you a Spain national?

I would like to apply for the DTV at the Madrid embassy on January 25. At that time, I will be in China, but I will fly to Madrid on January 31.

Would my DTV application be affected if all the other required documents are in order?

Thank you in advance.

Anonymous participant if you want to apply via Madrid then you need to be in Spain on the day you apply so you can't apply while in China. You also need to remain in Spain until the application process completes

Anonymous participant sadly it doesn't work like that

Anonymous participant you have to be in country when you apply, you can start preparing all the documents but if you file with a country you're not in at the time or leave the country yr applying from, your application will likely be cancelled and you'll lose your fee. Do it in China and dont leave until its accepted or wait until you're in Spain.

Anonymous participant 868 unless he has residence in China he can't apply there. Same for Madrid
