Hello, I am currently in Phuket with visa exemption and I want to China to assist a wedding from 25 to 31 January. I want to apply for DTV at madrid embassy on day 25 currently I’ll be in China but day 31 I fly to Madrid. Will my DTV be affected even if I have the rest of documents ok?

The country you apply from doesn't matter... what does matter is that you remain in that country you applied from until approval. You'll likely here some people managed to do it anyway BUT it's an unnecessary risk. It's better for you to apply when you're in Spain and stay in Spain until a decision is made.

You can't. Madrid embassy might check dates and reject the application based on you not being under their jurisdiction

You need to apply at the embassy of your current location. So or you apply in China when in China or in Spain when in Spain. They are sometimes requesting proves of location and that could cost you your application fees.

Anonymous participant if you want to apply via Madrid then you need to be in Spain on the day you apply so you can't apply while in China. You also need to remain in Spain until the application process completes

Anonymous participant you have to be in country when you apply, you can start preparing all the documents but if you file with a country you're not in at the time or leave the country yr applying from, your application will likely be cancelled and you'll lose your fee. Do it in China and dont leave until its accepted or wait until you're in Spain.
